I am so excited about being able to present ideas via this blog to the members of the Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. My name is Elaine B. Holtz and I am your Vice President of Business Services for our Chamber and am honored to have this opportunity.
As I began to write the blog I asked myself the question, "Why am I a member?" In asking myself that question I recognized there was a lot more opportunities involved that would potentially generate leads and sales.
The following are some reasons I came up with.
1. Opportunity to meet other business owners.
2. Going to events and being able to network.
3. Growing your business happens through the power of relationships and being part of a Chamber gives one access to interacting and building relations with others.
4. It also provides a vehicle for service, such as being on the board, volunteering to be an Ambassador, sending in a business tip to help others enhance their business.
5. Inexpensive advertising opportunities, such as putting an ad in the newsletter and/or membership directory.
6. Unlike a referral networking group, professional society or trade association, a chamber does not limit the number of people who can join from any one profession or industry. The local membership may include, for example, several commercial interior designers. Membership in this chamber of commerce would thus give you an opportunity too meet more than one prospect for your word-of-mouth marketing team.
Looking at the list is inspiring to me, however I am aware that none of this happens unless members participate. One way to participate is to send me a business tip that worked for you and share it via the blog. Both the idea and credit to you and your businesses will be given.
